Welcome to this week’s edition of What’s Up, Tigard?, your Friday rundown of how the Tigard Chamber has been championing local business and community vitality. From energizing networking events to behind-the-scenes advocacy at City Hall and beyond, we’ve packed a lot into the past few days and we’re excited to share the highlights with you. Grab your favorite drink and settle in for a quick read, and see how the Tigard Chamber has been working for you and the broader Tigard community.
Our team kicked off the week with a fun visit to Ole Bolle Troll at the Nordic Northwest Campus, followed by a team lunch at Broder Söder. It was wonderful to check out the cultural center, soak up some fresh air, and build team synergy.
Tuesday was Communications and Media Day for the folks in the Leadership Tigard program. A highlight for the group was touring the KOIN 6 studio. KOIN 6 News is Watching Out for You with 35 hours of local news broadcasts each week, featuring award-winning in-depth investigations, news, weather, and traffic.
Our Diversity Community Engagement Committee met on Wednesday to finalize preparations for their Asian American and Pacific Islander event next week. Everyone is invited to join the FREE event on Tuesday, May 20th from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm at Jeffrey Allen Gallery for an evening of Asian inspired food, music, and art. We hope to connect with you there!
Heritage Bank hosted our Good Morning Tigard this week and informed attendees about their current opportunities for Personal and Business Banking. Of course, there was a lot of networking happening in the room too! We’ll be at it again next week…
Finally, our Government Affairs and Public Policy Committee had their monthly meeting, which included updates on the City of Tigard budget, State Legislative updates, and an introduction to our new Senator, Courtney Neron Misslin. In case you were wondering, we advocate on behalf of our members and the business community, leveraging our collective voice to influence policies that support a healthy business environment.
Speaking of healthy, don’t forget to head out to the Tigard Farmers Market this Sunday from 9:00 am-1:30 pm at Universal Plaza in Downtown Tigard, where you can find a plethora of local foods, handmade items, and more.
Also, be sure to VOTE! Ballots are due on Tuesday, May 20th.
That wraps up our week, but the momentum doesn’t stop here. If one of these initiatives sparked an idea, a partnership, or a question, let us know! Comment below, reach out to the team, or stop by the Tigard Chamber office on Main Street. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for next week’s events (check the Tigard Chamber Calendar for all the details). Together, we’re building a thriving and resilient Tigard one conversation, one connection, and one bold step at a time.
See you out there!
