Monday started off with a bang as our CEO Megan was voted in as the new President of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce Partnership (WCCCP) and ran her first monthly meeting of our 9 local Washington County Chamber of Commerce Executives. As a passionate community and business advocate, it’s no surprise that she will help lead this group who is known for speaking out on behalf of businesses and strengthening the vibrancy of our regional economy. Go Megan!
Our Ambassador Team held their monthly meeting on Tuesday morning where they discussed a variety of topics and upcoming events including the Festival of Balloons Multi-Chamber Networking Event – June 20th at Cook Park at 7:30am. Don’t miss the biggest networking breakfast of the year!
We held an insightful Success Session on Tuesday afternoon with George Fox University titled: The AI Workforce: What you should expect (and maybe demand) from education. Participants explored the practical competencies and soft skills that employers can expect from the next generation of talent, and how these evolving abilities can support and strengthen their workforce. Be sure to check our event calendar for updates on the next Success Session topic and date.
May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and our Diversity Community Engagement (DCE) Committee held a soiree at Jeffrey Allen Gallery on Tuesday night to celebrate Asian art, food and music. It was a beautiful evening, and we look forward to the next DCE soiree in the coming months…stay tuned for details.
Tuesday was a BUSY day and wrapped up with our Board Chair Tom Engel giving our monthly Tigard Area Chamber of Commerce update to the Tigard City Council. He did a recap of Shining Stars and spoke about the importance of our legislative activities and Chamber Day at the Capitol.
In an effort to support Tigard City Council’s goal to reduce houselessness and the impact of houselessness on the business and residential community, Megan joined her monthly City of Tigard CHART Committee meeting on Wednesday where they reviewed the recent Point in Time count. If you or someone you know needs shelter, call Community Connect at 503-640-3263.
We woke up bright and early on Thursday for Good Morning Tigard hosted by Breast Friends. Breast Friends is committed to supporting individuals facing breast cancer by providing relevant, accessible, and inclusive assistance throughout their journey. Attendees learned all about the valuable programs they offer and more!
Our team stepped out in full force for the Tigard Wine Walk hosted by the Tigard Downtown Alliance and fun was had by all! We made some new connections, explored new businesses in the downtown corridor, and of course sampled some amazing wines from the region. What a perfect way to kick off Memorial Day Weekend!
Looking for something exciting to do over the holiday weekend? The Tigard Farmers Market is happening in Universal Plaza on Sunday from 9:00am to 1:30pm. It’s a great way to support our local farms, bakeries, artists, musicians, nurseries and more! Shop local. Eat local.
That wraps up our week, but the momentum doesn’t stop here. If one of these initiatives sparked an idea, a partnership, or a question, let us know! Comment below, reach out to the team, or stop by the Tigard Chamber office on Main Street. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for next week’s events (check the Tigard Chamber Calendar for all the details). Together, we’re building a thriving and resilient Tigard one conversation, one connection, and one bold step at a time.
See you out there!
