Welcome to this week’s edition of What’s Up, Tigard?, your Friday rundown of how the Tigard Chamber has been championing local business and community vitality. From energizing networking events to behind-the-scenes advocacy at City Hall and beyond, we’ve packed a lot into the past few days and we’re excited to share the highlights with you. Grab your favorite drink and settle in for a quick read, and see how the Tigard Chamber has been working for you and the broader Tigard community.
Our office was closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day. We honor and remember all of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country while in the United States military. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Tuesday was back to business as usual. Our CEO Megan sat down to lunch with the Tualatin Chamber of Commerce to discuss all things community and collaboration! From there she went into a Tigard Kitchen Cabinet Meeting alongside Oregon House Majority Leader Representative Ben Bowman, the City of Tigard, and the Tigard-Tualatin School District. These meetings are a great opportunity to keep key community members working towards a common goal.
Tuesday night was all about our After-Hours Networking Event at Dragonfly Asian Bistro. This new family-owned restaurant in Tigard was the perfect gathering spot for sampling some delicious food and building new business connections!
Our Membership Engagement Coordinator Ainsley hosted a Member Orientation on Wednesday night to give a warm welcome to some of our new members and educate them on all of the amazing benefits that come with being part of our Chamber family. Welcome! We can’t wait to see how your business flourishes with your new membership in place.
Thursday mornings are always eventful at Good Morning Tigard, hosted this week by JosephK Jewelers. We had a great turnout, and attendees learned something new about the custom jewelry process. Looking forward to gathering with you all again next Thursday at 7:30am!
Ainsley was all ears as she sat in on the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) Community Webinar where she learned about how federal changes will impact Oregon State Programs. With the help of ODHS, she will continue to monitor changes that would be valuable for our members to know. Stay tuned!
It’s not often that you get a chance to have a Business Chat with the Chief but last night was the exception! Businesses and community members gathered at Broadway Rose Theatre to ask the Chief of Police Jamey McDonald questions, voice their neighborhood concerns and get community updates from a first responder perspective. This meeting was aimed at promoting an open dialogue and enhancing police and community relationships and it did just that!
Make sure to stop by the Tigard Farmers Market in Universal Plaza on Sunday from 9:00am to 1:30pm. Summer is officially here and so are the seasonal fruits and vegetables!
That wraps up our week, but the momentum doesn’t stop here. If one of these initiatives sparked an idea, a partnership, or a question, let us know! Comment below, reach out to the team, or stop by the Tigard Chamber office on Main Street. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for next week’s events (check the Tigard Chamber Calendar for all the details). Together, we’re building a thriving and resilient Tigard one conversation, one connection, and one bold step at a time.
See you out there!
Your Tigard Chamber Staff
