What’s Up, Tigard? – 5/9/2025

Welcome to this week’s edition of What’s Up, Tigard?, your Friday rundown of how the Tigard Chamber has been championing local business and community vitality. From energizing networking events to behind-the-scenes advocacy at City Hall and beyond, we’ve packed a lot into the past few days and we’re excited to share the highlights with you. Grab your favorite drink and settle in for a quick read, and see how the Tigard Chamber has been working for you and the broader Tigard community.

Our week started on a high note as the excitement and adrenaline from our 51st Annual Shining Stars Community Awards Celebration carried over to the event wrap-up. Thank you to everyone who joined us last Friday night at Embassy Suites as we honored Tigard citizens who demonstrate excellence and community leadership in business, volunteer activities and deserving high school seniors. The event was a huge success and it would not be possible without the generosity of our sponsors, local businesses and of course, community members!

Our CEO Megan De Salvo attended the City Council Meeting on Tuesday where they renewed the Tigard Enterprise Zone and discussed a parking update in the Downtown and Tigard Triangle areas. City Council meetings are open to the public if you’re interested in joining the conversation and they are available to watch online as well. Megan also attended the Business Travel and Trade Findings luncheon with the Port of Portland where they discussed the PDX International Air Service survey results.

Thursday was Chamber Day at the Capitol hosted by the Oregon State Chamber of Commerce. Megan attended along with our Membership Engagement Coordinator Ainsley Adams and our Board Chair Tom Engel. They learned more details about active bills that we have been monitoring and met with our new Senator Courtney Neron and House Majority Leader Ben Bowman to advocate for Tigard business. It was a great day of education and connection!

We held our weekly Good Morning Tigard (GMT) networking event at the City of Tigard Public Works department where they promoted their upcoming summer events as well as the Community Preparedness Fair, Tigard Works! Discover Your Essential Services, and provided updates on the Building a Better Tigard campaign. We can’t wait to see everyone at GMT next Thursday!

This week was also Small Business Week so of course we were out and about in the community supporting small, local businesses and discovering some new local gems. Don’t forget to shop small and eat local all year long!

That wraps up our week, but the momentum doesn’t stop here. If one of these initiatives sparked an idea, a partnership, or a question, let us know! Comment below, reach out to the team, or stop by the Tigard Chamber office on Main Street. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for next week’s events (check the Tigard Chamber Calendar for all the details). Together, we’re building a thriving and resilient Tigard one conversation, one connection, and one bold step at a time.

See you out there!
