What’s Up, Tigard? – Advocacy, Networking and Community Updates

Welcome to this week’s edition of What’s Up, Tigard?, your Friday rundown of how the Tigard Chamber has been championing local business and community vitality. From energizing networking events to behind-the-scenes advocacy at City Hall and beyond, we’ve packed a lot into the past few days and we’re excited to share the highlights with you. Grab your favorite drink and settle in for a quick read, and see how the Tigard Chamber has been working for you and the broader Tigard community.

We are a champion for stronger communities and Ainsley jumped at the opportunity to attend the City Council’s presentation on Tuesday where they gave a summary of their recent Equitable Engagement Report and what they heard from community members and key recommendations from the outreach process. We are looking forward to the next steps. In addition to the City Council meeting, Ainsley attended LatinoBuilt’s Quarterly Meeting at Fortis Construction where she learned more about their programs to support contractors and businesses.

Networking was in full force this week as we hosted an After Hours at Three Mermaids Public House on Tuesday evening and a Good Morning Tigard in Rotary Plaza hosted by the Tigard Downtown Alliance (TDA) on Thursday. GMT attendees learned about the Ticket to Tigard program, Tigard Street Fair and the upcoming TDA holiday events.

Are you set up to receive Washington County Public Alerts? Makenna attended the Washington County Public Information Officer meeting this week and they encouraged everyone to sign up for emergency alerts from Washington County public safety agencies. Click here to get signed up.

Our week wrapped up with a Listening Session with Senator Courtney Neron Misslin at CoLab where community members and business owners participated in open dialogue around legislative actions that they had questions about. This was the first meeting of a quarterly series where Senator Neron Misslin will be available to answer questions and collect feedback pertaining to her new district. Keep a lookout for a separate blog post that dives deeper into our discussion today.

Mark your calendar to head out to the Tigard Farmers Market in Universal Plaza from 9:00am to 1:30pm this Sunday. Each week brings new vendors, new entertainment and new opportunities to shop and eat local.

That wraps up our week, but the momentum doesn’t stop here. If one of these initiatives sparked an idea, a partnership, or a question, let us know! Comment below, reach out to the team, or stop by the Tigard Chamber office on Main Street. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for next week’s events (check the Tigard Chamber Calendar for all the details). Together, we’re building a thriving and resilient Tigard one conversation, one connection, and one bold step at a time.

See you out there!
