What’s Up, Tigard? – Civic Collaboration, Workforce Development and Weekend Events

Welcome to this week’s edition of What’s Up, Tigard?, your Friday rundown of how the Tigard Chamber has been championing local business and community vitality. From energizing networking events to behind-the-scenes advocacy at City Hall and beyond, we’ve packed a lot into the past few days and we’re excited to share the highlights with you. Grab your favorite drink and settle in for a quick read, and see how the Tigard Chamber has been working for you and the broader Tigard community.

Monday mornings can be slow for some but our CEO Megan was off to a strong start this week as she sat down to coffee with Mayor Heidi Lueb for their monthly meeting to discuss all things Tigard. As a convener of leaders and influencers, this regular meeting is important to ensure the Chamber is always working towards making Tigard a great place to live and work!

Collaboration is key in our Chamber office and a great example of that is the WorkReady program – a partnership with Tigard-Tualatin School District (TTSD) and Tualatin Chamber to bring business and school together in meaningful student experiences that help enhance the quality of future hires and provide clarity on career path direction. Both Megan and Makenna attended an important WorkReady planning session on Wednesday to discuss ways in which the program can continue to flourish and provide the best experience for all involved. This amazing program aims to empower and invest in the education and future success of our community members!

Ainsley took a quick trip down to Salem on Wednesday afternoon for the Oregon Business & Industry (OBI) Annual Meeting. This year’s topic was Championing Oregon’s Sport Tourism and Recreation Economy and speakers discussed not only the economic impact but the statewide strengths and opportunities that come with so many remarkable sports teams who call Oregon home. Don’t miss a chance to see some of these teams live in action, you won’t regret it!

Our regular Good Morning Tigard networking event was extra special this week as we welcomed Cogir of Tigard to the community. Attendees not only got a tour of the new facility but also shared in the excitement of their official ribbon cutting. Welcome to Tigard, Cogir! We are so excited to see your senior living community thrive here.

Get ready to kick off summer with a day of wellness, movement, and fun at the Health & Fitness Summer Kickoff Fair on Saturday, June 7th at Universal Plaza from 3:00pm-5:00pm. Our Leadership Tigard Program and the Tigard Farmers Market will be on-site so be sure to stop by their tables to say hello and hear all about their initiatives.

Speaking of the Tigard Farmers Market, be sure to stop by on Sunday from 9:00am to 1:30pm in Universal Plaza. Your weekly bragging rights will come in the form of fresh berries, produce, local goods and food truck finds. We can’t wait to see you out there!

That wraps up our week, but the momentum doesn’t stop here. If one of these initiatives sparked an idea, a partnership, or a question, let us know! Comment below, reach out to the team, or stop by the Tigard Chamber office on Main Street. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for next week’s events (check the Tigard Chamber Calendar for all the details). Together, we’re building a thriving and resilient Tigard one conversation, one connection, and one bold step at a time.

See you out there!
