What’s Up, Tigard? – Networking Highlights, Community Advocacy and Award Nominations

Welcome to this week’s edition of What’s Up, Tigard?, your weekly rundown of how the Tigard Chamber has been championing local business and community vitality. From energizing networking events to behind-the-scenes advocacy at City Hall and beyond, we’ve packed a lot into the past few days and we’re excited to share the highlights with you. Grab your favorite drink and settle in for a quick read, and see how the Tigard Chamber has been working for you and the broader Tigard community.

Though February may be the shortest month of the year, it’s overflowing with opportunities to connect, collaborate, and make meaningful networking strides. Our CEO Megan has been actively meeting with community partners as she attended meetings for the Building a Better Tigard Campaign, the Tigard Downtown Alliance Art Committee and Board of Directors meeting, the Center for Addictions Triage and Treatment (CATT) tour and the State of the Economy PDX event in Portland.

Our Leadership Tigard cohort had their Government Day this past Tuesday where the group toured the Clean Water Services facility, learned about the Tigard HOME Project and enjoyed a panel discussion with a variety of elected officials. Lunch was provided by Wow Cow, a local favorite located in Universal Plaza.

We felt the LOVE at our Speed Networking event this week where 80+ professionals gathered at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Portland Tigard to expand their reach and referral partners and (fingers crossed) walked away with some new business opportunities. Sad to have missed it?! Not to worry, we will host another Speed Networking in October and we have our weekly Good Morning Tigard (GMT) networking event every Thursday morning from 7:30-9:00am. Check our online calendar for GMT details. See you there bright and early!

The deadline to submit an application for the 2026 National Civics Bee has been extended to Tuesday, February 17th due to nationwide storm impacts. Students in grades 6–8 are invited to write an essay identifying a community challenge, propose a solution, and share how civic principles can help bring it to life. Don’t miss your chance to compete for recognition and prizes – including a $100,000 education savings award for the champion! Submit your application here.

Award Nominations and Scholarship Applications for our 2026 Shining Stars Community Awards Celebration are NOW OPEN! The event will take place on Friday, May 1st and we are so excited to recognize, celebrate and say thank you to the people who work so hard all year long to enhance the Tigard community and truly make Tigard “A Place to Call Home”. Interested in being an event sponsor? Contact Ainsley for more information.

That wraps up our week, but the momentum doesn’t stop here. If one of these initiatives sparked an idea, a partnership, or a question, let us know! Comment below, reach out to the team, or stop by the Tigard Chamber office on Main Street. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for next week’s events (check the Tigard Chamber Calendar for all the details). Together, we’re building a thriving and resilient Tigard one conversation, one connection, and one bold step at a time.

See you out there!
