What’s Up, Tigard? – Partnerships, Committees and Festival of Balloons!

Welcome to this week’s edition of What’s Up, Tigard?, your Friday rundown of how the Tigard Chamber has been championing local business and community vitality. From energizing networking events to behind-the-scenes advocacy at City Hall and beyond, we’ve packed a lot into the past few days and we’re excited to share the highlights with you. Grab your favorite drink and settle in for a quick read, and see how the Tigard Chamber has been working for you and the broader Tigard community.

Our CEO Megan started off the week with a flurry of meetings beginning with her monthly Washington County Chamber of Commerce Partnership Meeting where attendees spoke with the Explore Tualatin Valley President and CEO Dave Parulo about attracting visitors to the area, both locals and tourists, and how to enhance Visitors Centers throughout the region with the types of information guests are seeking based on personal interests. Be sure to stop by the Tigard Visitors Center next time you are downtown to grab up-to-date information on things to do and see in Tigard and beyond!

We deeply value our partnership with the City of Tigard and stay in regular contact with various departments to ensure we are always advocating on behalf our business community. This week Megan met with the Economic Development Manager Danelle Hauther and gave a warm welcome to the NEW City Manager Brent Stockwell. In addition to these meetings, Megan and Mayor Heidi Lueb toured Fought & Company with their President Michael Fiore while Ainsley attended the Tigard City Council meeting to deliver our monthly update about the Tigard Chamber. Makenna also stopped by the Tigard HOME event hosted by the City in Universal Plaza. We are keeping our fingers on the pulse!

Our Chamber committees were active this week and staff were present to support them every step of the way. The Ambassador Team held their monthly meeting where they put the finishing touches on the Festival of Balloons Good Morning Tigard Multi-Chamber Networking event. The event (held today) was a huge success with more than 175 attendees present to help kick off the Festival of Balloons weekend! Our Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) Committee had their monthly meeting where they discussed the end of legislative session along with general government updates, and our Diversity and Community Engagement (DCE) Committee met to start the planning process for their next networking event.

A huge congratulations goes out to all of our Leadership Tigard Graduates! This past Tuesday we celebrated our 2024-2025 cohort with a graduation celebration at Broadway Rose Theatre. Interested in taking part in the Leadership Tigard program? We are now accepting applications for the 2025-2026 cohort! Visit our website for more information.

Don’t forget! The Tigard Farmers Market will be in Universal Plaza on Sunday from 9:00am to 1:30pm. Every week brings new vendors, new produce options and tons of fun! Hope to see you out there…

That wraps up our week, but the momentum doesn’t stop here. If one of these initiatives sparked an idea, a partnership, or a question, let us know! Comment below, reach out to the team, or stop by the Tigard Chamber office on Main Street. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for next week’s events (check the Tigard Chamber Calendar for all the details). Together, we’re building a thriving and resilient Tigard one conversation, one connection, and one bold step at a time.

See you out there!
