What’s Up, Tigard? – Selfies, Soirees and Farmers Market Season

Welcome to this week’s edition of What’s Up, Tigard?, your Friday rundown of how the Tigard Chamber has been championing local business and community vitality. From energizing networking events to behind-the-scenes advocacy at City Hall and beyond, we’ve packed a lot into the past few days and we’re excited to share the highlights with you. Grab your favorite drink and settle in for a quick read, and see how the Tigard Chamber has been working for you and the broader Tigard community.

Tuesday was City Hall Selfie Day so of course we stopped by for a quick group photo! We deeply value our partnership with the City of Tigard and keep our lines of communication open. Megan attended the City Council Meeting this week to hear updates from our legislators – House Majority Leader Representative Ben Bowman, Senator Courtney Neron Misslin and Representative Sue Rieke Smith. The City also shared the results from the recent National Community Survey.

Are you a young professional looking to connect with other business-minded young professionals? Ainsley is working towards bringing a Young Professionals Affinity Group to Tigard and met with group leaders this week to start gearing up for the launch. Stay tuned for more information on how to get involved!

Our Diversity and Community Engagement (DCE) Committee held a Soiree Celebration on Wednesday at Taqueria La Fuente to celebrate Latino and Hispanic Heritage & Culture. Thank you to the event sponsors – Vantage Point HR, Taqueria La Fuente and Good Cake Bakery – for making this event possible! We are excited for the next one…

Good Morning Tigard was held at Samsara Yoga on Thursday where they received a warm welcome to the Tigard community. The event included a ribbon cutting to celebrate the recent opening of the new space, one that is dedicated to self-care through yogic practice, guided by expert and kind instructors. Be sure to visit their website for a list of upcoming classes and events.

Exciting news! The Civics Bee will return to Tigard in 2026! Makenna is hard at work with the Civics Bee preparations as we will host the competition again in March. More details to come about how to participate for a chance to compete in the National Civics Bee in Washington DC.

The Hillsboro Hops are rounding out their 2025 season and Ainsley was #AllHoppedUp at the ballpark this week as part of Explore Tualatin Valley’s Partner Appreciation Night. We love our partnership with Explore Tualatin Valley and we love our local baseball team. Go Hops!

We are halfway through the Farmers Market season! Join us this Sunday at the Tigard Farmers Market in Universal Plaza from 9:00am to 1:30pm. Our new canvas tote bags are on sale for $10! They are perfect for your weekly outing to shop and support local vendors. Grab one while supplies last.

That wraps up our week, but the momentum doesn’t stop here. If one of these initiatives sparked an idea, a partnership, or a question, let us know! Comment below, reach out to the team, or stop by the Tigard Chamber office on Main Street. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for next week’s events (check the Tigard Chamber Calendar for all the details). Together, we’re building a thriving and resilient Tigard one conversation, one connection, and one bold step at a time.

See you out there!
